Individual Therapy for Adults in OC, LA, and all over California
Make sense of the patterns shaping your life.
The ways you learned to relate, cope, and care for others did not appear out of nowhere. I help you understand how early relationships continue to shape your emotional life, so you can move forward with greater clarity, self-trust, and confidence.
A quiet place to understand what is really going on.
Therapy gives us space to slow down, look beneath the immediate stress, and make sense of the patterns shaping the way you respond to life and relationships. I help you connect the dots so you can trust your own capacity, make decisions with greater confidence, and move through difficult seasons without losing your footing.
This work is for you if
You've done everything right, and still something feels off.
You're capable and self-aware; probably more than most people around you realize. But you've noticed the same patterns showing up again and again: in your relationships, your self-esteem, your sense of worth. Maybe you've tried to work through it before, and it didn't go deep enough. Maybe this is the first time you're naming it out loud. Either way, that's exactly where we begin.
WHAT I OFFER
Individual, Insight-Oriented Therapy.
This is the heart of my work: long-term, relationship-centered therapy for adults ready to understand the patterns shaping their lives. I also offer professional consultation and psychological assessments.
MEET DR. BETSY
A relationship you can return to.
I'm Dr. Betsy Chung, a licensed clinical psychologist with almost two decades of experience and a background that spans inpatient care, rehabilitation, and community mental health before private practice. I've worked with complexity. I'm not easily rattled by yours.
My approach is insight-oriented and relational. We don't just talk about how you feel. We figure out why, and where it started.
I take on a limited number of clients because I'm fully committed to each one. I remember your story, I'll challenge you when you need it, and I'll stay in your corner while I do. Clients return to me years later and we pick up exactly where we left off.
If you're ready for therapy that expects something from you, I'd like to meet you.
Kind Words
As someone who feels pretty in touch with my inner self and has worked with several therapists in the past, it’s remarkably easy to say that Betsy is an amazing therapist. I am a busy working professional who experienced a major life setback and with her help was able to find joy and happiness in my life again. Additionally, she was able to help me discover and process parts of me that I undoubtedly could not have done alone nor have been able to do with past therapists (no shade on them). She is excellent at connecting with her clients and provides healthy insights and challenging perspectives during therapy. She legitimately cares for her patients and was the best investment I’ve made in myself in a long, long time. I could not recommend her more.

No. My work is with individuals. I help people understand how their childhood relationships shaped their patterns, self-esteem, and the way they show up in relationships today. That's different from couples therapy, and it's intentionally so.

Occasionally, for clients I have an existing history with. For those who need a more accessible option, I'm happy to refer you to a group of therapists I've personally vetted and clinically oversee.

Yes, with some limitations. I see clients in person on Mondays at my Huntington Beach office. Telehealth sessions are available throughout California and work well for the majority of my clients. If you're unsure which format is right for you, we can talk through it during our initial consultation.
Ready to understand what's really going on?
Therapy with me is a long-term relationship, not a quick fix. If that's what you're looking for, I'd like to hear from you.
